Put the video you've already made to work.
Most homepage videos sit behind a thumbnail and never get pressed. Anico Player loops the first few seconds silently, so the video is already moving when someone lands on the page, and shows them a button once they've watched enough to be interested. Afterwards it tells you how many people pressed play, where they stopped, and which page made them click. You paste two lines of code, and it costs £49 for as long as the page is up.
- £49 once per player, with no subscription
- Works with a YouTube link, a Vimeo link or your own file
- Sets no cookies, so it needs no consent banner
Running on this page
This is the player, pointed at a real video.
It's the same two lines you'd paste on your own site. Press play, and a few seconds in the button appears. Every time someone watches it here it's counted exactly the way yours will be, and the code underneath is all there is to it.
<div data-anico-player="ANI-H0MEDEM0" style="aspect-ratio: 16/9"></div>
<script src="https://player.anico.click/v1/player.js" async></script>
The first line reserves the space before the script loads, so the page doesn't jump when the player appears.
How it works
A link, four seconds and a button, then two lines on your page.
-
1
Paste the link to a video you already have
A YouTube or Vimeo link works as it is, and so does an MP4 or an HLS stream on your own server. We fetch it, check that it plays, and tell you if the file is set up in a way that would make people wait. The moving preview needs a file; the links get a thumbnail, the button and the numbers.
-
2
Pick the four seconds that loop, and write the button
The loop plays silently before anyone clicks, which is what stops the scroll. It needs a video file we can reach, an MP4 or an HLS stream; a YouTube or Vimeo link shows its own thumbnail until the click instead. The button says whatever you want people to do and goes wherever you want them to go, and you can have it wait until they've watched enough to care.
-
3
Paste two lines where the video should go
Webflow, WordPress, Squarespace, Framer or hand-written HTML, it's the same two lines. When you change the video, the loop or the button later, the page picks it up on its own within a minute or two.
Page speed
It costs your page eight kilobytes until someone presses play.
Most embeds load an entire player before anyone has decided to watch, and your page speed score pays for it. This one loads the preview and the button first, then fetches the controls only after the click. The space is reserved before the script runs, so nothing on the page moves, and there are no cookies, because we count plays rather than people.
- On first load
- 8KB
- About the size of a logo. The controls arrive after the click.
- Layout shift
- 0
- The space is reserved before the script runs, so nothing jumps.
- Cookies
- 0
- Plays are counted, people aren't, so there's nothing for a consent banner to ask about.
- The player doesn't build itself until it's about to scroll into view, and the loop pauses when it scrolls away.
- Visitors on a slow connection, or with Save-Data switched on, get a still frame and no video bytes.
- A YouTube or Vimeo video stays as a thumbnail until the click, so none of their iframes or cookies load first.
- Sound starts inside the click itself, which is what phones require, and playback never restarts when the controls arrive.
Analytics
You'll know how many people pressed play, where they stopped, and which page made them click.
The dashboard shows each player's numbers for any period, with the period before beside them: how many people saw it, how many pressed play, how far into the video they got, and how many clicked the button. Everything is broken down by the page the player sat on, so you find out that the pricing page converts and the about page doesn't. If you'd rather not log in, a weekly email carries the same numbers.

Questions
What people ask before they paste it in.
Anything else, email ben@anico.click and a person will answer.
Does it work on Webflow, WordPress, Squarespace or Framer?
It works anywhere you can paste two lines of HTML, which includes Webflow's embed element, a WordPress custom HTML block, Squarespace's code block and Framer's embed component. The dashboard has a short guide for each.
Where does my video live?
It stays wherever it is now. We don't host video. You give us the link, on YouTube, Vimeo or your own server, and we draw the player around it. If you replace the file at the same address, the player picks up the new one.
What about cookies and GDPR?
The player sets no cookies and stores nothing about the person watching. It counts views, plays, how far people got and clicks, per page. YouTube and Vimeo don't load until someone presses play, so their cookies don't load either.
Will it slow my page down?
The first load is about eight kilobytes, and the space is reserved before the script runs, so nothing shifts. The controls arrive after the click. Every change to the player is measured against a page-speed budget before it ships, and a change that makes it heavier doesn't ship.
Can I change it after it's live?
Yes. The video, the loop, the button, when it appears, the colours and the font can all change. Save, and the page updates within a minute or two without you touching the code you pasted. Every version is kept, so you can go back to an earlier one.
What if I change my mind?
Refund yourself from your account page within fourteen days. The player comes offline and the money goes back the way it came, with no questions asked.
Who makes this?
Anico Studio, an animation studio in the UK. We built the player for our own site first, because the showreel on our homepage wasn't getting pressed, and then made it something you could use too.
You've already paid for the video. Give it a job.
A player takes about ten minutes to build, and it's free until you put it live.
